The incident was reported last night when a team of Haryana Police randomly entered Metro coaches on complaints that men were forcefully entering women's coaches and harassing the passengers.

Acting on the complaints, the personnel made the male passengers alight from the coach. Many of the passengers who strayed into the reserved compartment were slapped and thrashed by police, including women personnel, as well as women commuters.

Some of them were made to do sit-ups in public view after they were forced to alight from the train. Women passengers have been complaining that male commuters were forcing their way into the reserved coaches causing inconvenience to them, police said.

Delhi Metro had on October two this year became the second Metro in the world to reserve special coaches for women after the Dubai new age transport system. The reserved coach is the first after the driver's cab in every train. Children up to 12 years, accompanied by women passengers, are allowed to travel in the reserved coach.
The decision to reserve a coach for women came after the increase in number of passengers belonging to the fairer sex travelling on the Metro.

The DMRC has placed stickers on the platform to mark the entry to the first coach reserved for women and has deputed staff for informing passengers about this.
