Modi 3.0 Cabinet Meet Highlights | Government has 3 Cabinet ministers from South, 2 MoS from KeralaThe newly formed Modi government 3.0 convened for its first Cabinet meeting on Monday, a little after 5 pm. The announcement of cabinet portfolios saw BJP's top brass retaining key portfolios. While Modi claimed Space and Atomic Energy, Amit Shah retained his post as Home Minister while Nirmala Sitharaman will continue as Finance Minister. Manohar Lal Khattar got Power and the Urban Affairs ministry and Nitin Gadkari has retained Road, Transport & Highways. All signs, including PM Modi's speech to PMO officials, point to a re-doubled focus on PM Modi's guarantees. In fact, the first file signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his third tenure on Monday pertains to releasing 17th installment of the PM Kisan Nidhi and the first 'decision' by the new cabinet was to extend 'additional assistance' to 3 crore rural and urban households to build homes. The Finance Ministry also announced the release of ₹1,39,750 crore to states as 'additional installment of tax devolution'. Thank you for keeping track of the latest developments here, with DH.

PM Modi tweets about 17th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

"Our government is committed to making the lives of our farmer brothers and sisters across the country easier. It is a matter of good fortune for me that after assuming office as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive time, I have got the opportunity to do my first work for them. Under this, I signed the file related to the 17th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, which will benefit more than 9 crore of my farmers of the country. In the coming times, we will continue to work for the welfare of farmers and the upliftment of the agriculture sector," said Modi.

Jairam Ramesh criticises delayed release of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

Congress' Jairam Ramesh in a long tweet, calling Modi "Ek Tihai Pradhan Mantri", criticised the delayed release of the PM Kisan Samman Niddhi. He wrote, "...(Modi) has made a great show of signing his first file upon taking office – the granting of the 17th installment of the PM Kisan Nidhi funds.

Aap chronology samajhiye:

• The 16th installment of PM Kisan Nidhi was due in January 2024, but was delayed by a month for the PM’s electoral calculus

• The 17th installment of PM Kisan Nidhi was due in April/May 2024, but was delayed by the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.

The 'Ek Tihai' Pradhan Mantri has done nobody a great favour by signing this file: these are legitimate entitlements due to farmers according to his Government’s own policy.

He has made a habit of converting routine administrative decisions into some great bonanza that he is bestowing upon the people. Clearly, he still thinks of himself as not biological, but divine.

If he was genuinely concerned about farmer welfare, here are the five things he would do:

1. Sahi Daam: Legal status to MSP, according to the Swaminathan Commission’s formula

2. Karz Mukti: There will be a farm loan waiver, and a Permanent Commission will be set up to effectively implement it

3. Beema Bhugtan ka Seedha Transfer: Guaranteed insurance payment straight to the bank account within 30 days of crop loss

4. Uchit Aayat-Niryaat Neeti: Farmers will be consulted to set up a new import-export policy

5. GST-mukt Kheti: No more GST on essential inputs for farming

Almost 24 hours after being sworn in the 'Ek Tihai' Pradhan Mantri is yet to allocate portfolios. Already jittery!

'First time he is running a coalition government': Omar Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah said, "He (PM Modi) is forming the government for the third time but for the first time he is running a coalition government. When he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, there was no coalition... when he was the Prime Minister for 10 years, there was no coalition. This is the first time that he is running a coalition government... In the last 5 years, he did everything that he had been promising for years, whether it was Article 370, or Ram Mandir, but even after doing all this, his seats decreased instead of increasing... Those who were talking about crossing 400 could not even cross 300..."

'PMO should be people's PMO & it cannot be Modi's PMO': PM dials down on 'Modi sarkar' rhetoric in maiden speech to PMO officials

In his first address to the officials of PMO, after assuming office of the Prime Minister for the third time, PM Modi says, "10 years ago the image in our country was that PMO is a power centre, a very big power centre and I was not born for power. I do not think of acquiring power. For me, it is neither my wish nor my path that PMO should become a power centre. The steps we have taken since 2014, we have tried to develop it as a catalytic agent...PMO should be people's PMO & it cannot be Modi's PMO..."

"When it comes to the Government, it is not just Modi alone, thousands of minds that are connected to him, thousands of brains that are working on this, thousands of arms that are working on this - as a result of this grand form, even the common man gets to meet its capabilities..."

He added, "...Together we have just one goal -Nation First; just one intention - 2047 Viksit Bharat. I have said this publically, Mera Pal Pal Desh Ke Naam Hai. I have also promised the country - 24/7 for 2047. I have such expectations from the team..."

Warning of hard-working days ahead, he said, "We are not those people for whom office starts at this time and ends at this time. We are not those people, we are not bound by time, we have no limits to our thinking, and we have no criteria for our efforts. Those who are beyond this are my team and the country trusts that team."

If the world is at a stage beyond which there is nothing else, we have to be there. We have to take our country where nobody else reached...

PM Modi hints at converting 'Modi wave' into something more 'stable'

PM Modi waxed eloquent about 'unstable' desires, saying, "You will meet a lot of people in your real life if you talk to people who belong to teenage groups — if for some time cricket season is going on, he feels like becoming a good cricketer. If a good movie becomes very popular then he feels that this field is good, and I should become an actor. At the same time, the Chandrayaan incident happened, so he felt that this field was very good and that he should become a scientist..."

He then subtly hinted at his ambitions over the next 5 years of his term, stating, "Most of the people are those whose desires are unstable. And when the desire is unstable, then the common man calls it a wave...But when the desire becomes stable and it attains stability for a long time, then the desire passes through a process which turns into a resolution...Desire plus stability is equal to resolution, and resolution plus hard work is equal to success..."

PM highlights '3 things' as important to Modi 3.0 govt:  Clarity of Thoughts, Faith in Conviction & Character to Act

In his first address to the officials of PMO, after assuming office of the Prime Minister for the third time, PM Modi said, "When we work, 3 things are very essential, and if we have these 3 things, then I don't believe that failure will be seen anywhere. And when I say 3 things- Clarity of Thoughts, as far as the government is concerned, I believe that there is no confusion. It knows it has to go this way and it has to be achieved. Such clarity of thought is the first requirement for the success of any work. Faith in Conviction- whatever I am listening to, whatever I am being told, I should not have disbelief in it... Faith in conviction, which I have heard, and experienced says that yes, my thoughts do not match. But this is the path, so let's go ahead, but even this is not enough...Character to Act- I have to mould my personality in such a way. I have to prioritize and devote myself to making the most of my time on that work..."

He aded, "A successful person is the one whose inner student never dies. Many people have asked me this question in this election and for the last 30 years, I am asked where do I get so much energy...The secret of my energy is that I keep the inner student alive throughout and the person who keeps the student alive within him is never powerless, never weak and never lazy. He is always full of energy."
