New Delhi: Nearly a fortnight after the examinations were cancelled, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences announced that the NEET-PG 2024 entrance examination will now be held on August 11 in two shifts. The cut-off date for the purpose of eligibility to appear for the exam will be August 15.
"In continuation of NBEMS notice dated 22.06.2024, the conduct of NEET-PG 2024 examination has been rescheduled. The NEET-PG 2024 shall now be conducted on 11th August 2024 in two shifts,” the NBEMS said in a notice.
The NEET-PG exams were cancelled on June 22, a day before they were scheduled to be held. The cancellation of the exams, which came amidst the paper leaks controversy, had led to a furore.
While cancelling the exams, the education ministry had said that the health ministry had decided to cancel it after taking into consideration “recent incidents of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations”.
The exams, an eligibility test for those seeking admissions to postgraduate medical programmes, were to be taken by as many as 2 lakh aspirants for over 70,000 seats.
To ensure that there are no leaks in these exams, the union home ministry has asked states to beef up security arrangements in testing centres. In the NEET-UG paper leak case, which has been taken up by the CBI, several arrests have already been made.
