Police personnel in Jahangirpuri, who are probing the incident of violence on Hanuman Jayanti and stationed to ensure law and order, were pelted with stones on Monday afternoon.
"We will question those identified and arrested to ascertain more details into the incident... The investigation is in its initial stages," said Asthana.
To a question by a reporter on whether the violence was over planting a religious flag, Asthana says that the investigation will reveal the same. "Disagreement started over a small issue," he said.
"Twenty three accused arrested till now. Nine people including police personnel and one civilian received injuries during the incident. Analysis of CCTV footage and digital media is being done. FSL teams have visited the scene of crime today," Delhi Police commissioner Rakesh Asthana said.
