24 patients, including 12 infants, died in 24 hours between September 30 and October 1 at the state-run Dr Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital in Nanded city

"In the last 24 hours - from 12 am of September 30 to 12 am of October 1 - there have been 24 deaths, including 12 newborns. There are 142 admissions in the hospital's pediatric department, of which 42 newborns are in critical condition. There is no shortage of medicines or doctors. They (deceased) were given all possible treatment, but each patient responds differently to the cure given," says Nanded Government Hospital Superintendent SR Wakode.

Deaths in Maharashtra govt hospital extremely painful: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday termed as 'extremely painful' the death of 24 people, including 12 babies, at a state-run hospital in Maharashtra and questioned the 'carelessness' of the government.  The 24 deaths were reported between September 30 and October 1 in a government hospital in Nanded, a top Maharashtra health official said.

Taking to X, Kejriwal said,"This news of death of 24 people including 12 newborns in a government hospital in Nanded, Maharashtra is very painful. May God give courage to all the bereaved families in this difficult time".

"It is being told that these deaths occurred due to shortage of medicines. How can a government be so careless? These people are busy in forming and bringing down the government by buying and selling of MLAs but they do not care about the lives of the people," the AAP leader said.

Delhi Police’s ongoing raids at different premises linked to NewsClick are based on a case registered on 17th August under UAPA and other sections of IPC.

Mehbooba Mufti calls raids against NewsClick premises 'fishing

Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti Tuesday described the raids by the Delhi Police's Special Cell at the residences of NewsClick journalists as a 'fishing' expedition.

Mufti, a former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, said the raids were extremely perturbing as she accused the central government of championing press abroad and attacking it at home.

Delhi Police's Special Cell Tuesday morning conducted raids at the premises of online portal NewsClick and its journalists, triggering outrage against the action among scribes.

The Special Cell has registered a new case and started an investigation, officials said. Abhisar Sharma, a senior journalist, wrote on X,"Delhi police landed at my home. Taking away my laptop and phone.' Another journalist, Bhasha Singh, wrote on X, "Finally last tweet from this phone. Delhi police seizure (sic) my phone.'

2008 Malegaon blast case | Special NIA court has allowed an application by the accused for giving them a copy of the questionnaire sometime before their oral statement recording by the court. What we are looking at is now to supplement that contract with 97 additional aircraft. So, it will bring the total to 180 LCA Mark 1As...We will stop flying the MiG-21 fighter aircraft by 2025 and we will replace the MiG-21 squadron with the LCA Mark 1A. The same proposal is in place...In another month or so, the second squadron will get number-plated and we will follow with the third one sometime next year. The induction of the LCA Mark 1A will fill the gap of these outgoing MiG-21s."

Two elderly women end lives in Mangaluru

According to Commissioner of Police, Anupam Agarwal, the deceased are Latha Bhandary (70), and her sister Sundari Shetty (80). Latha’s husband was out for work. On returning home at around 4.30 pm, he saw the main door locked from inside. On peeping through the window, he saw both the women hanging. As per reports, family issue is said to be the reason for the two women taking this extreme step. A case has been registered.
