Manvi, Raichur district: The Maharashtra police arrested and produced 23-year-old Sohail Pasha of Manvi, Raichur district, who had pretended to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and threatened to kill actor Salman Khan and a music director, before a court in Mumbai. He has been remanded in two-day police custody.
On November 7, Pasha, a resident of a locality near Shaadi Mahal in Manvi, called the Mumbai police on WhatsApp and threatened to kill Khan and the composer of the song Main Sikandar Hoon if he was not paid Rs 5 crore. Mumbai Police wasted no time tracing the call and were in Manvi before the end of last week.
They found the phone that Pasha had used to call them belonged to Venkatesh Narayan, a resident of Cheekalaparvi village. However, Narayan neither owns a smartphone nor uses the internet on his basic handset. But a one-time password, sent to Narayan’s number while trying to instal WhatsApp on the phone, led them to Pasha.
The police said Pasha had made the prank call to popularise a song of Khan ’s recent film.
