Parliament Highlights: Budget exercise completed as RS returns Appropriation, Finance Bill to LS, Houses adjournedParliamentary approval for the Budget 2024-25 was completed today with the Rajya Sabha returning the relevant legislations to the Lok Sabha after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's spirited reply to the debate emphasising that the budget was aimed at promoting investments and creating jobs. Amid widespread opposition of the amendment bill for Waqf board, the Modi government referred the bill to a Joint Parliamentary Committee. I.N.D.I.A. members had opposed the introduction of the Waqf Bill in the Lok Sabha, while NDA alliance members extended its support saying that it's not about temples and mosques. After the referral, the Lok Sabha saw the introduction of Bhartiya Vayuyan Vidheyak Bill. Thanks for staying with us as we tracked the proceedings in Parliament. Government to introduce the Waqf Bill in Lok Sabha today 

The Centre on Wednesday informed the Lok Sabha's Business Advisory Committee that Wakf Bill will be introduced in House on August 8 (Thursday).

The Centre is set to introduce Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act, 1995 in Lok Sabha to amend the Waqf Act 1995.

The proposed legislation omits Section 40 relating to the powers of Board to decide if a property is waqf property.
