Stepping up attack on Minister of State Ajay Mishra over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that he is "a criminal" and demanded his immediate resignation.
TMC parliamentarian Derek O'Brien on Thursday poked fun at Union Mishra Ajay Mishra Teni, who is under pressure from the Opposition to resign in wake of SIT report on the Lakhimpur Kheri case, saying that the BJP minister's position is "un-TENI-able," a pun on the word untenable.

"Even before we could mention our notice on Lakhimpur Kheri, the Chairman adjourned the House till 2 PM. The moment we got up to raise the issue, the House was adjourned. What does it mean? The Chairman is supposed to protect our rights," Kharge said.

There is no plan as of now to curtail the ongoing Winter Session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Wednesday but added the Opposition should not run away from debate they themselves have sought on vital issues.
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned on Wednesday amid sloganeering by the Opposition over an SIT probe report on the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.
It is strange that the Opposition sought a discussion on serious issues such as price rise and on the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus, but they ran away at the time of discussion, Joshi told reporters outside Parliament.

The government on Thursday will introduce the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Bill, 2021 in the Lok Sabha. The House is also likely to discuss price rise and climate change.

As part of pre-Budget deliberations, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will meet infrastructure and financial sector honchos on Thursday to seek their inputs for Budget 2022-23.
The two consultations with different stakeholder groups will be held virtually, the Finance Ministry said.
"Finance minister Smt. @nsitharaman will be holding consultations with experts of Industry, Infrastructure & Climate Change in forenoon; and experts of Financial Sector and Capital Markets in afternoon," the ministry said in a tweet.
A three-line whip was issued to ensure attendance in Rajya Sabha but "quite a few" of them chose to ignore it, while some among them found an ingenious way to skip the proceedings by not turning up in the afternoon.
The government is unlikely to bring a bill on cryptocurrency in the ongoing winter session of Parliament, top sources said on Wednesday.
They also suggested that whenever a bill will be brought, it will be referred to the parliamentary standing committee for wider deliberations with stakeholders.
The bill, which was listed in the government's legislative business of the winter session, seeks to "create a facilitative framework for the creation of the official digital currency to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India".
