The incumbent Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government is expected to remain in power in Kerala in the upcoming assembly elections, according to an opinion poll.

The Times Now-CVoter opinion poll also said that in the polls, the CPM-led LDF is likely to bag 82 out of the 140 seats, and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) would fall short of the majority and land 56 seats. In the 2016 assembly elections, the LDF had won 91 seats while the UDF had 47 seats.

Interestingly, the opinion poll showed that the BJP would fail to make much progress and was likely to stick to its 2016 assembly election number - 1 seat.

With 42.3 per cent of the respondents saying that they were satisfied with Vijayan's leadership, the chief minister managed to hold on to the 'most popular pick' tag.

What came as a surprise was that 55.8 per cent of people wanted to see Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister while 31.9 per cent chose PM Modi for the post.
