Suspecting their alleged involvement in embezzlement of funds meant for Muzaffapur police, the authorities said a team led by ASP Manish raided the houses of S K Choudhary, the accountant, and his colleagues Shakuntala Devi and Devi Kumari in Samastipur and Muzaffarpur towns.
While Rs 85 lakh were seized from the house of Choudhary, the remaining amount from that of Devi and Kumari, DGP Neelmani said in Patna. All three have been arrested, he said, adding an FIR was registered in this connection.
Neelmani said police also seized five ATM cards and froze several bank accounts of Choudhary. The action followed an inquiry that confirmed embezzlement of funds worth around Rs five crore allotted to the Muzaffarpur police by the state government, recently, authorities claimed.
