Police turn motorcycles into aeroplanes on website!

But Delhi Police made these two men owners of aircraft when the youths were actually making rounds of police stations to recover their motorcycles stolen on December 30 last year.

ZIPNET, the official portal providing real-time information on crimes happening in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Chandigarh has the above given and other mistakes in the data provided for crimes.

The last two entries in the stolen motor-vehicles category for 2010 in ZIPNET were that of Sharma and Jeet, and the police had entered the type of vehicles as aircraft.

While Sharma lost his Hero Honda mobike in north-east Delhi's Zafrabad police station area, Jeet lost his vehicle from Mahavir Enclave area in south-west Delhi.

According to ZIPNET, a total of 14,026 vehicles were stolen in the capital last year while around 920 vehicles were stolen this year so far.

Out of the 920 vehicles stolen this year, the majority were reported from East Delhi (126), closely followed by South-East (125), West (124) and South (118).

North-West Delhi reported 107 while North-East Delhi reported 103 similar cases this year. The number of vehicle thefts in other districts are: Outer (93), Central (47), North (31) and New Delhi (17).

In the New Delhi district, 12 motorcycles, a jeep belonging to Agriculture Ministry and four cars were stolen this month.

The case of jeep stolen from Krishi Bhavan on January three was the first vehicle theft case to be registered in New Delhi district this year. A Maruti car was also stolen from the North Block Home Ministry parking on January 19.

Three days ago, a two wheeler was stolen from Rashtrapati Bhavan Samudayika Kendra parking.

The other vehicles were stolen from near Ashok Hotel, Gol Dhakana, Patlia Court Complex, near Modern School in Barakhamba, near Gurudwara Rakabganj and Pragati Maidan.
