Mamata Banerjee criticised the BJP for the arrest of Opposition leaders, alleged that they are promoting 'democracy of agencies'.

Addressing a public gathering in Chakla, North 24 Paraganas districk, Mamata questioned the BJP's track record of arresting individuals from their party and accused them of running a system where agencies are used to control democracy.

On the invitation for the consecration ceremony of Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut says, "Now, the only thing left is that the BJP will announce that Lord Ram will be their candidate for the elections. So much politics is being done in the name of Lord Ram."

He also mentioned that Congress will have to start from zero. "I did not say that Congress is zero. Congress does not have a single MP in Maharashtra. We had 18 MPs but some left and we've 6 MPs now. Our alliance is there with Congress and Maha Vikas Aghadi will win around 40 seats. BJP needs EVMs to win, they cannot win alone. Their alliance is with EVM," he said.

Rajasthan: BJP nominee for Karanpur poll inducted as minister, Cong flags model code violation

Surendra Pal Singh, the BJP's nominee for the January 5 election to the Karanpur assembly constituency, was inducted as a minister in the Rajasthan government Saturday, drawing flak from the Congress which accused the ruling party of violating the model code of conduct.
