"The Cabinet has approved a Rs 1,877-crore project for transforming the existing network of more than 1.55 lakh post offices with a view to improve their service delivery system," he said, adding the scheme is to be implemented by 2012-13.

Automated mail processing centres (AMPCs) are being set up at Delhi and Kolkata, the Minister said.

Pilot also gave details of another project `Arrow', which envisages upgradation of post offices in urban and rural areas to enhance quality of services.

Pilot said 3G services will be launched in four more cities of Gujarat by January 31. BSNL's 3G services are now available in 60 cities of Gujarat telecom circle.
