The Department of Post decided to release the stamp to mark 200 years since Chennamma, the warrior Queen of Kittur, victory against the British East India Company in 1824.

"On October 23, we will mark 200 years since the courageous Kittur Rani Chennamma's victory over the British. To honor this historic achievement, a postal stamp featuring Rani Chennamma will be released," Joshi posted on social media X.

"The request for the commemorative stamp was made on October 16, 2024, and the Government of India will unveil it just a week later, on October 23. This reflects how the Modi government honors our freedom fighters, values the sentiments of the people and promptly addresses their requests and concerns," Joshi posted.
