Apart from meeting pro-democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi during his upcoming visit to Naypyidaw, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may also meet his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang and new Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

The prime minister is leaving for Naypyidaw on Tuesday to attend two multilateral conclaves at Myanmar — the 12th ASEAN-India summit on Wednesday and the 9th East Asia summit on Thursday.

He will have bilateral talks with Myanmar’s President Thein Sein and even meet Suu Kyi, who leads the country’s opposition National League for Democracy. It is also likely that Modi will have a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart. Modi’s meeting with Suu Kyi will be his government’s first engagement with the opposition leader of Myanmar.
