Thiruvananthapuram: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, who on Wednesday made her electoral debut by filing a nomination as a Congress candidate for Wayanad Lok Sabha bypolls, has declared assets worth over Rs 12 crore.

While Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi had an income of Rs 46.39 lakh in the last fiscal, her businessman husband Robert Vadra's income was only Rs. 15.09 lakh.

As per their Income Tax returns details of the couple, which are mentioned in her nomination papers filed for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-poll, Vadra's income had steeply come down over the years. 

While his income was Rs 55.58 lakh in 2019-20, in 2023-24 it was only Rs 15.09 lakh. It was only around Rs 9 lakh in the previous two fiscals.

Priyanka's income had steeply fallen from Rs. 69.3 lakh in 2019-20 to Rs. 19.89 lakhs in the 2020-21, which could be a fallout of Covid-19. But it again bounced back in the subsequent years to reach Rs. 46.39 lakh in the last fiscal.

Priyanka's sources of income are rental income, bank interest and interest from investments.

While Priyanka Gandhi has assets to the tune of Rs. 11.99 crore, Vadra has assets worth Rs 65.5 crore.. Priyanka has liabilities to the tune of Rs. 15.75 lakh, while Vadra has liabilities of Rs. 10.03 crore. 

Priyanka's assets also include agricultural land and a farm house in Sultanpur in Delhi jointly owned with her brother Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. She also owns a house in Shimla which is worth Rs. 5.63 crore. She also owns gold worth Rs. 1.15 crore.

Vadra, who earlier courted controversies over his firms, is now partner in Sky Light Hospitality, Blue Breeze Trading and North India IT Parks.ED had earlier attached properties of Sky Light Hospitality in connection with a land scam. He also has investment in shares in over a dozen firms.

Priyanka has three cases pending against her and her highest educational qualification is PG Diploma in Buddhist studies from University of Sunderland, UK in 2010 through distance learning.
