Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin at his residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi soon after he flew in from Moscow for a two-day visit.
Modi hugged Putin as he alighted from his car after arriving at Prime Minister's official residence.
“Welcome to india, President Putin! I wish you a fruitful stay in India. I look forward to our negotiations, which will undoubtedly strengthen the friendship between India and Russia. @KremlinRussia,” tweeted Modi.
He also posted the same in Russian in Twitter.
Modi had an informal meeting with Putin at his residence. He also hosted a dinner for the Russian president.
The two leaders will hold the 19th annual India-Russia summit at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Friday.
The Russian president was earlier received by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at the airport.
