BJP national president J P Nadda on Friday took aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks in the UK, and said that Gandhi was “permanent” part of a “toolkit” to defame India.
The saffron party has fielded several Union ministers to take on Gandhi, as it intensified its offensive against him, and plans to continue to demand for an apology from Gandhi.
In a video message, Nadda questioned the Congress, too. “It’s unfortunate that the Congress party is indulging in anti-national activities. After being repeatedly rejected by the nation, Rahul Gandhi has now become a permanent part of this anti-nationalist toolkit.”
He said that Gandhi and George Soros echo the same sentiments. “Why do George Soros and Rahul Gandhi speak the same language? Why do Pakistan and Congress speak in a similar way?,” he asked.
The BJP has questioned Gandhi for seeking help from foreign powers. In his speech, Gandhi said that the problem India is facing is an internal problem and the solution will come from within the country.
“The scale of Indian democracy means that democracy in India is a global public good. It impacts way further than our boundaries. If Indian democracy collapses, in my view, democracy on the planet suffers a very serious, possibly fatal blow. So it is important for you too,” Gandhi had said.
Nadda said that asking for help from foreign powers is an “attack” on India’s sovereignty.
“Rahul Gandhi should state what is his intention behind demanding the intervention of another country in the internal matters of India, especially at a time when India has become the fifth largest economy in the world and G20 meetings are being held here,” Nadda said.
