The alleged rape-murder case of a speech and hearing impaired minor girl from the Meena community took a dramatic turn on Monday when two men from the community climbed up a mobile tower in Jaipur to demand a CBI probe instead of the state police investigation.
Additional DCP (south) Lalit Kumar Sharma told news agency ANI, "Two men have climbed up the tower. We have also come to know that they have some demands into the Dimple Meena murder case. Communication with them is underway and efforts are underway to safely bring them down."
In May, 10-year-old Dimple was found in a half-burnt condition in Karauli. Her family members had suspected that she was burnt after rape. However, rape was not confirmed in the probe and she died on May 20 during treatment. The postmortem report had confirmed that she was poisoned. During their probe, the state police arrested the girl's parents and maternal uncle in this case.
In September, leaders of the ruling BJP and Congress in Rajasthan had met with state minister Kirodi Lal Meena demanding a CBI probe, urging the latter to take up the matter with CM Bhajanlal Sharma citing dissatisfaction with the police probe.
"People of the society and public representatives believe that the investigation done by the police in the case is half-hearted... We will meet the Chief Minister and put the matter before him. Everyone will try to get this case investigated by the CBI, so that there is no confusion," Meena had said at that time.
