Rejection of the nomination of two BJP candidates in Kerala has not only paved the way for an unusual sitting of the Kerala High Court on Sunday, but also further fuelled the political scenario of Kerala that was already thick with allegations and counter allegations of vote trades and nexuses.
Considering the urgency of the matter, the Kerala High Court on Sunday heard the petitions of the BJP candidates whose nominations were rejected by the election officials citing procedural flaws and sought a counter affidavit of the Election Commission. The case was posted to Monday.
Following the recent revelations by RSS ideologue R Balashankar of CPM-BJP understanding in certain constituencies and the BJP’s lone MLA O Rajagopal alleging of Congress - Muslim League - BJP alliances in the past, the air was already thick with Congress and CPM accusing each other of BJP nexus. Hence the fresh developments fuelled it further.

Nominations of BJP’s Thalasserry (Kannur district) candidate N Haridas and Guruvayur (Thrissur district) candidate Niveditha were rejected citing lack of signature of the party office bearers in the nomination papers. Both are CPM’s sitting seats and BJP candidates of these constituencies secured 22,000 and 25,000 votes respectively, while the victory margin were only 34,000 and 15,000.
While Congress leaders alleged that the allegations of CPM-BJP nexus has now come out in the open, the CPM leaders are countering it with revelations of BJP leaders regarding the Congress - Muslim League - BJP nexus of the past, which is often referred to as CoLeB nexus.
