Republic Day Parade today: All you need to know

India is celebrating its 75th Republic Day today. The annual Republic Day parade will be at the Kartavya Path in Delhi and will feature the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, police, and paramilitary forces. The parade will center around women empowerment.

Few things to know:

  1. The thematic focuses of the parade are 'Vikasit Bharat' and 'Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka' emphasising India's essential qualities as a democracy.

  2. The parade will start at 10.30 am and will cover a distance of 5 km from Vijay Chowk to India Gate.

Embassy of India in Japan shares glimpses of 75th Republic Day celebrations at the Embassy. Ambassador Sibi George unfurled the tricolor and read the address by President Droupadi Murmu.

For the first time ever, the parade is being heralded by over 100 women artists playing Indian musical instruments. The parade is commencing with the music of Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, etc being played by these artists.

The winners of the highest gallantry awards including Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra on the Kartavya Path, as the March Past begins.

March past by the Army Mounted Columns begins.

The first Army contingent leading the Mechanised Column is of 61 Cavalry, led by Major Yashdeep Ahlawat. Raised in 1953, the 61 Cavalry is the only serving active Horsed Cavalry Regiment in the world, with the amalgamation of all the ‘State Horsed Cavalry Units’.

The French Foreign Legion music band consisting of 30 musicians and the French marching contingent from the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the French Foreign Legion on Karvatya Path on 75th Republic Day.

Mechanised Columns of the Army take part in Republic Day 2024 parade. The detachment of Tank T-90 Bhishma, led by Lt Fayaz Singh Dhillon of 42 Armoured Regiment, at the Kartavya Path.

Indian Navy tableau highlights the themes of 'Nari Shakti and 'Atmanirbharta'; it also showcases the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and Navy ships Delhi, Kolkata and Shivalik and Kalavari Class Submarine.

Macron's Republic Day gift: France to increase student intake

On the occasion of India's 75th Republic Day, French President Emmanuel Macron announced measures that would ensure more Indian students' intake in France.
