The Supreme Court on Monday deferred its hearing to May 10 on a batch of review petitions against the December 14, 2018 judgement, by wondering how a contempt plea against Congress president Rahul Gandhi was separated.

"We are little perplexed the two cases were to be heard together," a bench presided over by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said.

The court also wondered how contempt peptition filed against Rahul Gandhi was not listed, despite orders.

It adjourned the Rafale review petitions as well as BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi's contempt petitions for hearing to May 10.

On April 30, the top court said the contempt petition against Rahul would be heard along with review petitions on May 6.

However, when the top court's order was released, the contempt petition was listed for consideration on May 10 and the review petitions on May 6.

A batch of review petitions filed jointly by former Union Ministers Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie and advocate Prashant Bhushan sought reconsideration of December 14, 2018 judgement that had dismissed the plea for probe into 2016 Rafale fighter jet deal from France.
