The government is formulating a policy on women but a section of men seem very sceptical to the proposal, if one goes by the bizarre suggestions they have given.

Giving suggestions to the draft women policy on the government portal mygov.in, some wanted men to be treated as human, while another warned against a “feminist wife” who would be “harmful for our civilisation and threat for our nation”.

There were also bizarre arguments like women misusing law to earn money for her “unwanted demands” and that time was not far when men’s suicide ratio would suddenly increase.

Of the 341 suggestions received on the portal until Saturday evening, around 40-50 are from men who opposed the draft on various pretexts. The Ministry of Women and Child Development in May released the draft policy aimed at reinforcing a rights-based approach for creating an enabling environment in which women can enjoy their rights. Most of the suggestions by this section showed the anti-women attitude of these men, who submitted their suggestions in English. A senior official said this attitude itself emphasised on the need for such a policy.

A sample was this, “My mother was not fool to me but my son will feel her grandmother was foolish, because she remain always with his grandfather’s loyal partner and every domestic work both shared on equal gesture. This love bonding going to vanish from next generation as courtesy gender-biased mind who formulated women bill 2016.” (sic)

One of them argued all laws are against men and favour women, which has created an “imbalance in our social environment.”

Another person argued that it is “getting cruel day by day for men in India” as they have “only responsibilities but no rights at all.” “This policy will bring discrimination to men in India. It will break Indian culture,” was yet another argument.

“In a nation so huge and great, men legally are cheaper than animals(even they have a ministry),” one argued.

While several argued that gender laws are misused against men and demanded setting up of Men's Commission on the lines of National Commission for Women  some curiously wanted a gender-neutral policy for women.
