Triggering suspicion that more people have become victims of human sacrifice in Kerala, the police carried out a search operation at the premises of the accused couple's house in Pathanamthitta district on Saturday.
A strong posse of police was deployed around the house and sniffer dogs were engaged. The three accused -- Mohammad Shafi, Bhagaval Singh and his wife Laila -- had also been taken to the spot, along with the local worker who helped police in digging out the bodies of the two women earlier.
The accused were handed over to police custody on Thursday for further investigation.
Reports surfaced that some animal remains had been recovered in the search, however, this remains uncomfirmed. Forensic examination was also conducted inside the house.
After the human sacrifice of two women, Roselyn and Padmam, came to light, the police have been reviewing similar cases of missing women.
