Revenue officials of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) on Friday conducted a raid and sealed 10 shops at Alake Market Complex, which is owned by the MCC.
The owners of the shops were not paying rent to the city corporation for the past several months, even after serving notices. Shop owners owed about Rs 28 lakh to the city corporation in the form of rent. Hence, the MCC has  taken over the shops. Officials said that following the raid, shop owners have come forward to pay the rent.
