Seven pilgrims, including three women, were killed and 27 others injured when a bus carrying them overturned and fell into a ditch in Bihar's Gaya district today, police said.
The incident took place when the driver of the bus, carrying about 50 pilgrims, lost control over the vehicle and it broke through the railings of a bridge before falling into a roadside ditch on National Highway 2, DSP Akhtar Hussain said.
While three pilgrims, all women, died while they were being taken to hospital, four others succumbed to injuries during treatment, he said.
The injured pilgrims are undergoing treatment at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and a Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Manpur village, Hussain said.
