Someone who never shies away from controversy, senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has taken another shot at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the latter's phone call with US President-elect Donald Trump.

In a post on social media platform X, Swamy said that a national newspaper has reported on its front page that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that Modi's call was the third one Trump took soon after it became clear that he was to be the next President of the United States.

"Who were the first two? This is front page news for a nation of 1.43 billion people. Soon Waiter will inform that Trump allowed Modi to polish his shoes," Subramanian said in his post.

In September, Swamy had attacked the prime minister on social media by saying, "Let PM Modi and HM Shah know that when the truth comes out that China from April 2020 has grabbed 4046 sq kms of Undisputed Ladakh territory but the duo maintained 'koi aaya nahin' lie, they will be subject to treason crime."

He had also called for PM Modi to leave his position as soon as the latter turns 75. In an X post on August, Swamy said, "If Modi does not, as committed to RSS Pracharak’s sanskaar, announce his retiring to Marg Darshan Mandal after his 75 th year birthday on Sept 17 th, then he will lose his PM chair by other methods (sic)."

Swamy, despite his attacks on Modi, has also not left Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi alone.

The Delhi High Court was informed last week that a CBI probe had been initiated into Gandhi's citizenship on a PIL being heard by the Allahabad High Court.

The matter before the Delhi High Court was on a plea by Swamy who sought directions to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to decide his representation seeking cancellation of Gandhi's Indian citizenship.

Swamy, in his plea, also sought a direction to the MHA to furnish a status report on the representation filed by him against Gandhi.
