Investigations into the synthetic drug racket busted by the Punjab Police last week with the arrest of mastermind Jagdish Bhola, an Arjuna awardee, on Friday led to the recovery of over 600-kg of precursor chemicals.

The chemicals are estimated to be worth Rs 600 crore in the international market.
Two major suppliers, Jagjit Singh Chahal and Manjinder Singh Aulakh, were arrested on Thursday and the recovery was made on the basis of disclosures made by Chahal from his factory, MBP Pharmaceuticals Limited, located in Baddi.

Chahal shot to limelight last year after he brought a Chandigarh series VIP registration number (0001) for a whopping Rs 17 lakh for his luxury sedan.

Aulakh is a district level Shiromani Akali Dal leader. Health department are ascertaining the modus operandi of the illegal diversion of precursor chemicals from medicine sector to illegal manufacture of synthetic drugs like ICE.
