A firecracker factory explosion in Sevalpatti village of Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu on Thursday has claimed the life of 27-year-old Govindaraj, according to report by news agency ANI.

Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced financial assistance for the victim's family and expressed his condolences.

An explosion in the chemical-filling room reportedly caused the fireworks shed to collapse. The deceased, Govindraj who was working inside was buried under the debris and died, reports said.

A similar incident had taken place a month back when two workers were killed on the spot in an explosion at a fireworks unit in the area. Chief Minister M K Stalin had announced a solatium of Rs 3 lakh to the kin of each of the deceased.
