The House was adjourned twice in the morning and later for the day after TDP MLAs from Telangana region protested the "brutal" lathicharge.

Holding placards and raising slogans against the police action, TDP members rushed to the well of the House as soon as it assembled for the day's proceedings.

Within a minute, Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy adjourned the proceedings for 15 minutes but the House resumed only after an hour.

The Speaker then announced that the adjournment motion moved by the TDP on the issue was being disallowed, saying Home Minister Sabita Reddy would make a statement on the incident later.

However, the slogan-shouting TDP MLAs remained adamant and did not relent after Chief Minister K Rosaiah assured them that the government would take appropriate action.

In the din, the Majlis Ittehadul-e-Muslimeen (MIM) members rose to their feet demanding a statement from the government on four per cent reservation for Muslims in the wake of the AP High Court's recent judgement against it.

To this, the Speaker said the issue would be taken up as a short discussion.

The Speaker then adjourned the proceedings again for 15 minutes and invited the floor leaders for a discussion to resolve the stalemate.

After the House resumed, it passed motions of condolence for three former members who died recently.

When the Speaker asked Congress MLA Marri Sashidhar Reddy to move the motion thanking the Governor for his address, the TDP MLAs again trooped to the well of the House demanding immediate withdrawal of police from the OU campus and also withdrawal of cases filed against the agitators since November 29 last.

The Speaker then adjourned the House for the day.

The TDP Telangana MLAs, however, stayed put inside the House in protest.Legislature Secretary Raja Sadaram was trying to convince the members to leave the House when reports last came in.
