All the deceased are migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Bihar. The incident took place while the workers were involved in a routine check of the durability of glasses in a gas chamber at South Glass Private Limited in the industrial area of Burugulla, Farooq Nagar in Shadnagar.

It is suspected that the gas pressure in the compressor furnace caused the explosion, resulting in a massive fire. The deceased have been identified as Roshan, 36; Ramprakash, 45; Chittaranjan, 25; and Rao Kant, 25. The identities of the two more workers are yet to be established.
