The government decided to restore Yadadri's old name, Yadagirigutta. After the restoration and renovation of Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple atop the hillock in Yadagirigutta in 2022, the then chief minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, announced the change in name to Yadadri.

However, once the Congress came to power in December last year they decided to restore the old name.

On Friday, during his visit to the temple, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had asked the officials to use Yadagirigutta in all the temple records henceforth.

Yadagirigutta is touted as Telanagan's own Tirupati. The government is also considering establishing an autonomous body similar to TTD to oversee the operations of the Yadagirigutta Lakshi Narasimha Swamy temple. It's a cave temple where the presiding deity Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy gives darshan to the people.

The KCR government had taken up the renovation work on the temple at a cost of Rs 1,800 crore and opened the renovated temple to the public in 2022. When KCR announced his decision to rename Yadagirigutta as Yadadri, a few people raised objections. However, KCR overruled their objections and proceeded to rename the temple town.

On Friday, Revanth Reddy held a review on the development of Yadagirigutta Temple. He made it clear that the government decided to constitute the "Yadagirigutta Temple Board." . Officials have been asked to take necessary steps to establish the Temple Board on the lines of TTD.

The Yadagirigutta Temple Board should be established equal to the status of TTD after a complete study of the Tirumala Board. He instructed the authorities to introduce a special policy for cow protection in Goshala. Leverage the technological innovations for cow protection, he added.

Revanth Reddy reminded that the facility of sleeping of devotees on the hill of Holy Shrine to pay obeisance to the god was provided earlier, which was discontinued after the renovation of the temple. He had now ordered the officials to take measures and make the required arrangements for devotees to sleep on the hill.

“Speed up the works for the completion of gold plating for Vimana Gopuram. Complete the works before Brahmotsavam,” he said.

He asked the authorities to complete the pending land acquisition for the temple's development and ordered the officials to grant the necessary funds.

All the pending works in the temple should be completed. The officials are directed to come with complete details and proposals in a week.
