West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday announced that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will form Banga Janani Bahini and Jai Hind Bahini to counter RSS and BJP in West Bengal.

The TMC supremo was addressing the gathering at a protest demonstration in North 24 Parganas district. This was her first political programme after the results of the Lok Sabha elections were declared.

“The Banga Janani Bahini and the Jai Hind Bahini comprising of TMC workers will work to counter the BJP and RSS in West Bengal. These two outfits will be formed in every block of the state,” said Banerjee at the protest demonstration held by TMC in front of Naihati Municipality in the district. The demonstration was held in support of TMC workers who were rendered homeless due to alleged attacks by BJP cadres.

Banerjee alleged that the BJP was trying to disrupt the communal harmony in Bengal by creating a division between the Bengali and non-Bengali people in the state.

“BJP is trying to create a division between Bengalis and non-Bengalis. I hate a party like BJP and urge the people to raise their voice in protest against efforts to create a communal divide in Bengal,” said Banerjee.

The TMC supremo further alleged that at least 400 Bengali families were forced to flee from their homes due to attacks by BJP cadres.

Earlier in the day, the chief minister lost her temper twice when some locals raised slogans as her convoy was passing by. She alleged that BJP workers were hurling abuses at her when she was on her way to attend the protest demonstration
