The colleagues of Prashant Chaudhary, who was dismissed from service and arrested after he allegedly shot dead an Apple executive here on Saturday, when the latter failed to stop his vehicle, have launched a campaign on the social media to collect funds to provide the best legal help to the cop.

According to the sources around Rs. 5 lakh was collected within hours of the launch of the campaign on Monday morning.

''We want to ensure that our colleague gets the best legal help... we plan to hire the best lawyer for him and so we are collecting money,'' said one of Chaudhary's colleague.

Chaudhary's colleagues have claimed that he and another constable, who was also dismissed and arrested, were ''innocent'' and that they had become victim of politics.
