Mathura: At the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) annual meet, which began on Friday in Mathura, the national council of the right wing outfit condoled and paid tributes to former CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury who passed away last month.

The two-day meeting of the annual Executive Board of the Sangh was inaugurated on Friday at the Navdha Auditorium of Deendayal Gau Vigyan Research and Training Center at Gau Gram in Mathura by Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat and Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale.

Apart from Yechury, at the meet, the RSS paid tributes to Jaipur’s Raghavacharya Maharaj, industrialist and Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata, former West Bengal Chief Minister Budhadev Bhattacharya, founder of Eenadu and Ramoji Film City Ramoji Rao, former Foreign Minister K Natwar Singh, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Modi, and Admiral (Retd) Ramdas among other prominent people who passed away. 

A release by the Sangh stated that RSS leader Narendra Kumar said at the beginning of the meeting that there will be a comprehensive discussion on the ideas presented by Bhagwat during his Vijayadashami speech and plans for the follow-up of the topics mentioned will be taken up. 

Along with this, a review of the annual plan set in the Sangh’s Representative Assembly and the report of the expansion of the outfit’s work will also be taken. “In the meeting, there will be a review of the work done so far along with the plan for the expansion of work in the centenary year of the Sangh and discussions on taking the Panch Parivartan – social harmony, family enlightenment, environment, 'self' based lifestyle and civic duty – to society,” the release stated.

A total of 393 workers, including Karyavah and Pracharak of all the 11 regions and 46 provinces of the Sangh are participating in the meeting. Workers are also present from Jammu Kashmir, Kerala and the states of Northeast Arunachal, Manipur, Tripura, etc.

“In the meeting, the special tasks and situations of the provinces will be presented. Detailed plans till March 2025 will also be discussed,” the release stated.
