Bomb disposal squad inspects a hotel that received bomb threats via email, in Hazratganj area of Lucknow.

Lucknow: As many as ten hotels, some prominent ones, received bomb threats through emails on Sunday with a demand for payment of ransom of $55,000.

According to the police sources here, the hotels, which received bomb threats and ransom demand, included Marriott, Piccadily, Lemon Tree and Clarks Avadh among others.

Sources said that the emails claimed that the bombs were in black bags and were placed on the ground floors of the hotels.

''I want 55 thousand dollars and I will trigger explosions if not paid and there will be blood everywhere,'' the email said.

It also said that any attempt to defuse the bombs would also trigger a blast.

The hotel management promptly informed the cops and security was tightened around the hotels which had received the threats, police said. Search operations were also conducted inside the hotels but nothing was found.

Police said that they were investigating the matter.

Earlier a similar threat had been received by hotels in Rajkot in Gujarat also.

In the past few days hundreds of flights had received bomb threats causing massive disruptions in the operations. Bomb threat was also received by a flight bound to Gorakhpur from Bengaluru.
