An area manager of a Bajaj Finance died by suicide allegedly after being constantly pressurised to complete recovery target in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi district.

According to the police sources, the employee, identified as 43-year old Tarun Saxena, a resident of Gumnawara Pichore in the district, was found hanging from the ceiling in his room on Sunday.

Police said that a five page suicide note was recovered near Tarun's body in which he had narrated about the kind of pressure he had been working under for the past few months.

"Tarun Saxena was working at Bajaj Finance as area manager. He committed suicide on Sunday using a dupatta," Superintendent of Police (City) Gyanendra Kumar Singh said.

''The company officials have been pressuring me to complete the recovery target....they also abused me and harassed me,'' the suicide note said.

Tarun, who was area manager in the finance company, had been entrusted with the task of recovering the loans given by the company to the farmers in Talbehat, Baragaon, Moth and some other areas. Sources said that the farmers had not been paying their EMIs for the past several months.

''The company officials threatened to sack me and said that the recovery will be made from my salary if I fail to complete the target,'' Tarun said in his suicide note, sources said.

Tarun's brother Gaurav Saxena said that Tarun had been under tremendous stress for the past two months. ''He had told us about it,'' Gaurav said.

Police said that they were investigating the matter.

Barely a few days back, a senior lady official of HDFC Bank had died at her work place in Lucknow under mysterious circumstances. Her colleagues had alleged that she was under work pressure.

Earlier,  a 26-year old EY employee had also died following a heart attack allegedly caused by overwork and work related stress in Pune.
