Lucknow: Days after his ‘‘batenge to katenge’’ (be united else you will be slaughtered) remarks to Hindus citing the example of Bangladesh violence, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that his government was committed to safeguard the women in the state and deal with the perpetrators sternly.

Adityanath also likened Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle and party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav to the ''killer wolves'', which had triggered panic in UP's Baharaich district.

‘’Betiyon ki suraksha ke liye ham pratibadh hain....betiyon ko chune walon ke haath pair alag kar diye jaynege’’ (we are committed to ensure safety of our daughters.....hands and legs of the offenders against them will be severed), Adityanath said while addressing a public meeting at Prayagraj.

Apparently referring to the action against mafia don turned politicians Ateeq Ahmed, Mukhtar Ansari and some others, the chief minister said that his government would ‘’wipe out’’ the mafias, if they tried to raise their heads in the state.

He also attacked Akhilesh and Shivpal. "jis terah aajkal adamkhor bhedie utpat machaye hain, waise hi 2017 se pahle chacha-bhatje ne utpat machaya tha'' (the nephew-uncle duo had triggered the same chaos and panic in the state as the killer wolves have these days)," he said.

Adityanath, whose government had come in for widespread criticism over use of bulldozers to demolish the homes of the alleged criminals, said that one needed a ‘heart’ (courage) like a bulldozer to use them. ‘’Those who bow before the mafias can not use bulldozers,’’ he said in an apparent retort to Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav’s criticism of ‘indiscriminate’ use of bulldozers in the state.

Akhilesh had said that bulldozers were manoeuvred by steering wheels and not brains. And that the people of the state would change the steering wheels very soon. ‘’The bulldozers will be sent to Gorakhpur (Adityanath’s home town) when there is an SP government in the state,’’ Akhilesh had said.

Akhilesh on Wednesday also targeted Adityanath over the latter’s remarks that ‘’crime is in the DNA’’ of the SP. ‘’Adityanath will not be able to tell the full form of DNA.....it would have been better if he had dome some studies about it....anyway he would not have been able to pronounce the full form of DNA even if he had know it,’’ Akhilesh said in a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).

Barely a few days back Adityanath had asked the Hindus to remain united else they too would face Bangladesh like situation, where the Hindus were targeted during the recent violence.

‘’Bangladesh ki halat dekh rahen hain na....ek rahenge to nek rahenge....batenge to katenge’’ (You must have seen the situation in Bangladesh....if you remain united, you will be safe...if you are divided then you will be slaughtered), the saffron clad chief minister had said.
