Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) on Friday released its fourth list containing names of six candidates from Uttar Pradesh for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections leaving one seat for the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
The party announced its candidates from Bijnore, Nagina, Lalganj, Aligarh, Hathras and Meerut LS seats. It also said that the Bhadohi LS seat had been left for the TMC.
The SP has fielded Yashveer Singh from Bijore while Bhanu Pratap Singh and Manoj Kumar would contest from Meerut and Nagina LS seats respectively. Daroga Saroj and Bijendra Singh have been given the party nominations from Lalganj and Aligarh seats respectively while Jasveer Balmiki would be contesting from Hathras LS seat.
Earlier the SP had announced its candidates on 31 LS seats in the state. SP national general secretary and party president Akhilesh Yadav's uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav has been nominated from Budaun seat.
Akhilesh's wife and sitting MP from the party bastion of Mainpuri Dimple Yadav would again contest from the same seat. Akhilesh was likely to contest from Kannauj seat though the party has not yet made an official announcement in this regard.
With Friday's list, the SP has so far declared its candidates from 37 seats. The SP has left 17 seats for the Congress,which has not yet declared its candidates on any of the seats given to them.
BJP has also declared its candidates on 51 of the 80 seats in the state. The saffron party has left six seats for its alliance partners. The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Apna Dal (Anupriya Patel) have been given two seats each while one seat each has been left for the SBSP and the Nishad Party.
The Nishad Party, which wields considerable influence on the 'Nishad (boatmen) community, which was in sizable strength in around half a dozen districts in the eastern region, has demanded two seats. The SBSP has also demanded two seats from the BJP.
