According to the police sources here, the three history-sheeters, identified as Vivek, Vikram and Vinay, all brothers, who had been enlarged on bail barely a fortnight back, dragged the man from his house in Shastri Nagar area on Friday evening and brutally assaulted him with iron rods in full view of the public. Such was the terror of the history-sheeter brothers that no one came forward to save the man.

The man, identified as Sahil, was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries a little later.

Police sources said that Sahil's sister Muskan was a witness against the three criminals in a case of drug peddling. Muskan was scheduled to appear in the court as a witness against them on Tuesday.

Sources said that Muskan, who lived in Hyderabad with her husband after her marriage, had come from there only to testify against the criminals.

The history-sheeters had attacked Sahil and his family on Thursday night also in a bid to intimidate them and prevent Muskan from testifying against them. Sahil and Muskan had lodged a complaint with the police in this connection on Friday.

The criminals escaped after perpetrating the crime and were absconding. Police said that a case was lodged against five people and a hunt was launched to nab them.
