According to the police sources, the victim, identified as Vinay Srivastava, who was a friend of the union minister's son, had a bullet injury on his head. The pistol from which the shot was fired was registered in the name of Vikas.

The police have seized the weapon.

While the police said that three persons were taken into custody in this regard, the minister claimed that he was on a flight on the way to Lucknow when the incident happened. Vikas also shared his picture showing him sitting in the plane and also a photo of the ticket.

The Union minister said that his son had gone to Delhi leaving his licensed pistol at home. ''I want a fair and impartial inquiry into the incident... it is an unfortunate incident,'' the minister said.

The brother of the victim said that Vinay had gone to the residence of the minister's son on Thursday night. He claimed that there was an altercation between Vinay and some others, who were also there, after which Vinay was shot dead.

He claimed that Vinay had been dragged down from the roof and was shot in the head from point blank range.

Sources said that the minister's son had given a piece of land to Vinay on which the latter wanted to set up a car washing plant. The altercation between Vinay and the others was over the piece of land, sources added.

''We are investigating the incident... Vinay had bullet wound on his head... we have recovered a pistol also.... the forensic team is collecting evidence... a case has been registered,'' said a senior police official here.
