A video, showing the flooded outer areas in the Taj Mahal premises, also went viral on social media.

The officials of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) visited the Monument of Love and inspected the seepage. An ASI official later said that there was no damage to the main dome owing to the seepage.

The officials said that there existed a good drainage system on the upper roof of the Taj Mahal but the heavy rains in the past few days caused the rainwater to fall on the lower roof causing the seepage.

The officials said that drone cameras were used to examine the leakage in the main dome.

Meanwhile incessant rains also flooded the gardens in the outer areas of the main building. The video which went on social media showed a flooded garden inside the premises.

Incidents of falling of trees during the rains at some other historical monuments in Agra were also reported. The ASI officials visited the important buildings inside the Agra Fort to find out if there were leakages there. Agra had several historical monuments including Fatehpur Sikri Fort, Mehtab Bagh, Mughal emperor Akbar's tomb at Sikandra.

The city experienced one of the heaviest downpours in the past two days. On Friday Agra experienced 151 mm of rain, which was the highest in a day in the past 80 years.
