BJP leader K S Eshwarappa on Monday observed that the level of discipline has slightly come down in the party due to the influence of 'culture of indiscipline' of the Congress.

"There was total discipline when there were only a few persons in the party. As the party is growing big, discipline has come down here and there. Some persons from the Congress have also come to the BJP, and we are experiencing the impact. Our high-command is not weak, and it would take action whenever required," he said.

In the wake of 'adjustment politics' remarks by some BJP leaders, Eshwarappa stated that such words are unfortunate in the 'party of discipline'. Such things did not take place in the party earlier, and in case of such matters, these should be discussed in the party forum, he added.

Later, Eshwarappa clarified that his statement was not about those Congress legislators who resigned and joined the BJP, due to which the BJP had come to power in 2019.

"They helped us, and BJP came to power with their support. I just said the wind of Congress culture touched us also, bringing little indiscipline," he added.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi stated that he has asked MP Pratap Simha to speak to the party's national or state president if there is any problem, but not to speak in public on such issues.

Basavaraj Bommai performed well, but sometimes we get defeated in politics even with good works, Joshi noted.

Eshwarappa's remarks were not about 17 legislators who came to BJP in 2019, but it was a general statement regarding those who act like Congress leaders, Joshi added.

'DKS' letter'

K S Eshwarappa, the former deputy chief minister, also charged that D K Shivakumar had given a 15-point letter to the Congress high-command in Delhi, opposing any plan to make Siddaramaiah the chief minister.

"Shivakumar was ready to accept Mallikarjun Kharge or others as the chief minister, but not Siddaramaiah. Now, M B Patil and Mahadevappa are saying that Siddaramaiah would be the chief minister for five years. But Siddaramaiah and Randeep Singh Surjewala are not speaking about that. If they also speak so, the Congress government will fall," Eshwarappa added.
