A shocking video showing young kids jumping from a railway bridge into a canal seconds before the train hits them has gone viral on social media.

The video that shows seven children, all aged between 10 and 15, jumping into water, was recorded on a railway bridge on Ganga canal in the Lucknow-Delhi section of the Northern Railway in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district.

The children are seen standing on a bridge with no railing. They are standing in a row, and as the train approaches, they begin jumping one after another into the water. The jumps are made just in the nick of time, and the train misses the jumpers only by the fraction of a second. The children then casually swim to the shore.

The video has shocked both the railways and the police. Sources have said that the government has asked the district authorities to take steps to keep such stunts in check.

The district authorities, citing local residents, have said that the stunts started after the arrival of monsoon, with the canal full with water. The police said that they are trying to identify the children. Once found, their parents would be asked to be more strict about such dangerous behaviour.
