Violence continued in West Bengal even a day after the mandate in the Panchayat elections became clear, with a number of political activists reportedly suffering injuries in different parts of the state.
The number of injured is feared to have crossed more than 30 in clashes on Wednesday.
The southern parts of Bengal, which witnessed maximum violence during the recently-concluded polls, seemed yet volatile with Trinamool Congress and CPM supporters clashing at different parts of the South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas districts.
Around six Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters have been injured in a clash with CPM cadres at Kulpi in South 24 Parganas although the Left party refuted the clash as “baseless” allegation. In a similar clash at Swarupnagar in North 24 Parganas, two CPM cadres were recovered with bullet wounds.
