Union Minister Nityanand Rai says, "It's a very sad incident... The way she was killed after being raped. Mamta Banerjee's govt wanted to divert from that and the court has taken the cognisance and ordered a CBI inquiry into it."
Senior members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) are likely to meet the agitating doctors at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata where the body of a woman trainee medico was found last week.
IMA national president R V Asokan and its secretary general Anil kumar J Nayak reached the city on Tuesday night.
Dr RV Asokan, National President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA ) said, "A team of IMA met the parents of the victim and we were shattered to hear what they had to say.
"They are totally helpless, they have a lot of things to say about how the incident was not informed to them for several hours. They were not even allowed to meet the principal.
"Our demand from the West Bengal government is to provide supportive measures to the family. Now that the investigation has been given to the CBI. They have to be fair and transparent in order to find the other culprits. One culprit has not done this"
Let the CBI investigation bring out the culprit. If another doctor is involved, if the institution has been involved or if the department itself is involved. IMA will not protect them, says IMA chief
"Whatever is happening today, it is because of Mamata Banerjee's politics," says BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar
"Attempts are being made to hide the facts of the incident. I want to appeal that the real accused should be arrested at the earliest," he further said.
Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to express his views regarding the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case. He wrote, "The entire country is shocked by the gruesome incident of rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata. The way the layers of the cruel and inhuman act against her are being revealed, there is an atmosphere of insecurity among the doctors' community and women.
"The attempt to save the accused instead of providing justice to the victim raises serious questions on the hospital and the local administration.
"This incident has forced us to think that if doctors are not safe in a place like medical college, then how can parents send their daughters outside for studies? Why are even the strict laws made after the Nirbhaya case unsuccessful in preventing such crimes?
" Every party, every section of the society will have to hold serious discussions and take concrete steps on the continuously increasing incidents against women from Hathras to Unnao, and from Kathua to Kolkata. I stand with the victim's family in this unbearable pain. They should get justice at all costs and the culprits should be given such a punishment that it is presented as an example in the society."
Hundreds of BJP supporters on Wednesday held a protest march against the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor inside a state-run hospital in Kolkata last week.

CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat said, "High Court intervention has to atleast some extent ensured that the completely comprised position of the TMC govt and all authorities involved. At least now it can be stopped. It cannot be reversed.
"The fact is that the principal of the college who is to be held responsible was just asked to go on leave. This is not sufficient as he is directly involved in the cover-up.
"It is important for the CBI to take the principal into custody. He should be investigated. It is essential because if the head of an institution tries to cover up a crime has to be held responsible and accountable.
"Secondly, before he could know the details the Police Commissioner gave a clean chit to hospital authorities.
"How can you have a Police Commissioner who tries to cover up such a heinous crime? Moreover, the CM is the Health minister herself. The entire set up is geared towards concealing the many layers behind this heinous crime."
Kolkata Police takes to Twitter to dispel rumours regarding the case.
They have clarified that reports of Kolkata Police informing the family about a possible suicide are false. The family confirmed the call did not come from Kolkata Police.
Kolkata Police did not cremate the body of the deceased. It was her family who cremated her, Kolkata police said.
