An inquiry report has confirmed a major mistake by GMCH staff who administered blood of a wrong group to a pregnant lady, bleeding profusely when brought to the hospital in the last week of August, GMCH Dean Dr V N Jindal told PTI here today.

The inquiry report, which has gone into the details of the medical error, has been submitted to the State Health Ministry this week, Jindal said."Following the incident, the hospital has initiated several cross checks during blood transfusion so that such mistakes do not re-occur," he said.

The inquiry was initiated after the mistake was noticed by hospital management.
The hospital authorities were alerted when the patient, whose name has not been disclosed, started developing complications following the blood transfusion.

The GMCH's affairs were discussed in recently held state legislative assembly session.
The Opposition benches had pointed out that administration at this hospital was getting worse.
