A mere 8 per cent of the candidates who are contesting the Assam Assembly elections during Phase II are women, a report published by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) revealed.
Of the 345 candidates whose nominations have been accepted, only 26 candidates are women.
The Assam Assembly Elections is scheduled to begin on March 27 and end on April 6. The elections are divided into three phases - March 27, April 1, and April 6. The second phase of polls is slated to begin on April 1.
