The family members of the youth, who was killed in Monday's violence in Bulandshahr district, on Tuesday claimed that the youth was shot dead by Subodh Kumar Singh.
Singh was Syana police station in-charge, who was also killed in the violence.
''My son was killed by a bullet fired by Singh. It's a murder,'' Balbir Singh, Sumit Kumar's father, said on Tuesday.
Sumit was hit by a bullet during the violence and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
Balbir claimed that Sumit had gone to see off a friend to a bus station.
He said that Sumit was not part of the mob that attacked the Chiranwati police outpost, following recovery of animal bones in a field.
The family demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh and a government job to one of the family members.
ADG, law and order, Anand Kumar, however, told reporters in Lucknow that it was yet to be ascertained if Sumit was in the mob and killed in police firing.
