Hyderabad: Visakhapatnam on Friday bid a tearful farewell to J S Chandramouli, a retired bank employee who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. His mortal remains were carried in a procession where large crowds gathered to pay their respects. Ministers and senior local officials joined the procession, offering heartfelt tributes to Chandramouli.
A significant number of leaders and community members congregated at Chandramouli's residence in Pandurangapuram. As they recalled their personal connections with him, many were overcome with emotion. The funeral was conducted with full state honors.
Upon viewing Chandramouli's body, his wife Nagamani broke down in tears, unable to bear the sight of his disfigured face. His children also wept uncontrollably at the devastating scene. Throughout Friday morning, friends, relatives, and political leaders from both ruling and opposition parties arrived in large numbers to pay their respects, many breaking down in tears.
The body had been kept in the mortuary since the previous day, with even family members denied the opportunity to see him until Friday. When Chandramouli's mortal remains arrived at his residence, the entire area was filled with sounds of mourning. Everyone present was deeply affected by the sight of his face, disfigured in the terrorist attack. His two daughters wept heartbreakingly.
Political leaders arrived in significant numbers to pay their respects and participate in the funeral. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita visited Chandramouli's residence to pay her respects before consoling his wife Nagamani and joining the funeral proceedings. Minister for Medical and Health Satya Kumar, Anakapalli MP CM Ramesh, and MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao were also present. Minister Satya Kumar and MP CM Ramesh helped carry Chandramouli's pier.
The funeral procession departed from Chandramouli's Pandurangapuram home to the Gnanapuram crematorium, accompanied by numerous friends and relatives. Earlier, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan had visited Visakhapatnam to pay their respects to Chandramouli.
